Biographical Sketch
Giacomo Vacirca was born in Cesena in 2002. He studied Biomedical Engineering at the Alma Mater Studiorum – University of Bologna and the Politecnico di Torino, obtaining his Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in 2024 and 2026, respectively. Through his Master’s thesis, which focused on the microscopic-level modeling of surgical meshes, he developed a strong interest in finite element analysis and the experimental mechanical characterization of these products. He is currently pursuing a PhD at the Institute of Biomechanics under the supervision of Professor Gerhard A. Holzapfel, investigating the microstructural and passive-mechanical characterization of the myocardium as part of the ERC Synergy project MECHVIVO.
